CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP. The
Club Championship is the original NEGSC competition and the
ninth of ten POTY events
scheduled throughout the season. The NEGSC established the
Club Championship in 2000.
club championship
The Club Champion is determined in
a two-round, handicap tournament.
The first round of the Tournament is played at the Ingersoll Golf
Course. The Ingersoll Golf Course is the facility that the
majority of members play most frequently and the course is generally
thought of by club members as an unofficial "home course".
The second round of the Tournament is played at the Aldeen Golf
Course. The Aldeen Golf Course is a championship course
considered to be the premiere golfing facility of the Rockford Park
District. In 2004 the Aldeen Golf Course received a 4 1/2
star
rating by Golf Digest "Places to play". The Members choice of
the
facility as the second course played to determine the Tournament
Champion is intended as a test of the skills and perseverance of the
Tournament participants.
